Haphazard

Marked by lack of plan, order or direction; Because of the haphazard way my shoes are scattered around my apartment, I walk into or trip over one every time I leave my bedroom in the dark.

Monday, Monday. The least anticipated day of the week. I'm not sure how my weekend ended so quickly or even where it went. What will today bring?

Panegyric

A eulogistic oration or writing; also, formal or elaborate praise: The manager was so impressed with his star employee's performance that the panegyric he delivered was worthy of an Academy Award.

I'm not sure what the calendar says but, in my mind, yesterday was the first day of spring. I hopped in the car with a friend and we headed for Jones Beach and a walk on the boardwalk. The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing and the waves were crashing. If I hadn't been so chilly, I could have spent all day there. Today is supposed to be cloudy, wet and rainy but tomorrow's forecast calls for sun and 70's. Spring has sprung!

Organoleptic

Being, affecting, or relating to qualities (as taste, color, odor and feel) of a substance (as a food or drug) that stimulate the sense organs; involving use of the sense organs: The Children's Museum is meant to be organoleptic; instead of just looking at the exhibits, children are encouraged to touch, smell and taste their way through the building.

I'm so thankful that it's the weekend. I've got laundry finishing up in the dryer and a fun, relaxing day in the country planned. Woohoo!

Cloud-cuckoo-land

A realm of fantasy or of whimsical or foolish behavior: If I buy a white couch and think that I'm going to keep it clean, I'm living in cloud-cuckoo-land.

I've always heard this expression and thought it was just that: an expression. But it turns out that Mr. Merriam and Mrs. Webster (as I like to call them) fully recognize cloud-cuckoo-land as a word in the English language. It reminds me of that episode of RHONY when Bethenny called Kelly (ugh!) cuckoo-for-coco-puffs. That, by the way, is not in Merriam and Webster's big book of words.

On another note, TGIF!

Conventicle

An assembly of an irregular or unlawful character; an assembly for religious worship, especially a meeting for worship not sanctioned by law; a meetinghouse: The ladies of Wisteria Lane turned Gabby's living room into a conventicle where they could gather to plot against the evils around them.

More catching up on Desperate Housewives tonight!

Stultify

To cause to appear to be stupid, foolish or absurdly illogical; to impair, invalidate or make ineffective: Not getting enough sleep has a stultifying effect on me.

Abrogate

To abolish by authoritative action; annul; to treat as nonexistent: I abrogated my responsibilities by skipping an entire week of life and spending it on the couch catching up on Gossip Girl, Bethenny, Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. Hah. Wishful thinking.

But I have had the opportunity to catch up on a few shows lately. I tend to forget to watch Gossip Girl and then when I do, I have a ton of episodes to watch. And I have to say, Season 4 might be the best since Season 1. Just IMHO. And Desperate Housewives? Three cheers for Marc Cherry, they're also having a great run this year. I especially like Vanessa Williams and Brian Austin Green. But is he really going to move to Florida? Bethenny is just turning into a gilty (yes, that's how it's spelled now) pleasure. She's funny and Gina-the-baby-nurse cracks me up. Although I have to admit, I was a bit offended by the baptism at the Yoruba Orisha Baptist Church in Brooklyn. Who baptizes a baby without its parents permission? Bad Gina!

In other news according to the gospel of the TV Guide (thank you @Twitter for the frequent updates), I've heard that @MeredithVieira is going to leave the @TodayShow when her contract is up in September. As anyone who has known me for any length of time will recall, I threw a hissy fit when Meredith joined the crew in 2006. I missed @KatieCouric, I wanted Katie back, my mornings weren't the same without Katie, Katie was better with Matt, yadda yadda yadda. Well, I'm not ashamed to say that I was wrong and NBC was right. You hear me, NBC? You were right. Meredith is beyond fabulous. Now fight to keep Meredith! Don't you dare go bringing Katie back. We need less perk and more wit. More sarcasm. More of someone who isn't afraid to keep "that twit Lauer" in line. And if anyone's up for the job, it's @AnnCurry. She's fabulous. If she leaves the anchor desk, I feel fine about putting Natalie Morales there. She'd be a nice permanent addition to the crew. And for Pete's sake, don't let Matt go. I'd probably never get up in the mornings. And the consequences would be a whole lot more drastic than just abrogating a week's responsibilities.
